As with most of the blocks in this crazy quilt this 8 inch block is worked on crazy patched foundation of synthetic and natural and recycled after 5 fabrics. It includes fabrics found in swatch books of furnishing samples. Many of the fabrics came from swaps with other quilters who enjoy crazy quilting. Vintage lace, contemporary hand dyed lace, vintage braids and vintage buttons have also been included.
The hand dyed lace in the bottom right hand corner was received in a swap was simply beaded with seed beads and two vintage buttons with seed bead tassels were set at the base. A fine pink vintage braid runs above this section it too was simply embellished with seed beads. The bead and button cluster in the top right hand corner contains both vintage and modern buttons.
Diagonally across the block is a row of stitching which is made up of a combination of straight stitches, detached chain stitch and beads. This is sewn in hand dyed cotton threads and DMC Pearl thread. Above that area is some blue vintage lace that was part of dress found in an secondhand shop. The seam that borders that is made up of detached chain stitch arranged in the shape of a half daisy stitched in hand dyed silk thread. At the center is a bead. The other border of the blue lace is made up of hand dyed pink rayon lace that has an arrangement of straight stitches worked below it. These straight stitches are the foundation for knitting ribbon that is woven in and out of them.
The motif in the pink area is stitched in two strand so DMC cotton floss in long and short stitch. Above the motif in the top left hand corner is two rows of chevron stitch topped with two straight stitches and a detached chain stitch in the center. Novelty beads were sewn up the middle of the two rows of chevron stitch.
